Teresa Mahoney manages the video team at The Oregonian based in Portland. She got her start in video production creating everything from animated investigative explainers to social-friendly, breaking news and feature videos. Teresa came to The Oregonian in 2015 after working at Mint newspaper in New Delhi, India’s second largest financial daily. There, she oversaw a team of video producers and animators and taught the newsroom to shoot video with cell phones and DSLR cameras. She previously taught multimedia journalism including video, audio, and basic web development as a digital media fellow at the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, where she graduated in 2012.
Teresa won a 2020 regional Emmy for her explainer video on campaign finance and corruption and received a first place 2016 National Headliner Award for overall online videography. She was nominated for a 2016 regional Emmy for her explanatory video on how salmonella spreads. Her work has been screened at The Craft Film Festival in London.
